Although
no longer a requirement for amateur radio licensing, CW is not going
to go away anytime soon. It is very much alive and will
continue to be alive for many, many years to come.
First, if you like CW just do it.
Second, join the International Morse Preservation Society, better
known as
FISTS. FISTS has nothing to do with any of that weird
protest stuff. Your fist is your on-the-air style of
sending Morse code. It can be very distinctive.
I tend to prefer CW over voice for DX (long distance) contacts
because it transcends the language barrier. Standard
abbreviations are internationally recognized.
