Amateur Radio in Northwest Arkansas

Field Day 2007 was held at Agri Park on Highway 112 south of the University of Arizona Campus.  This is the second year we've used this venue and it is a really good location.  Saturday morning it rained and rained until about noon when the weather finally cleared and the sun came out.  A few intrepid souls hauled up the antennas while the rain came down!  Standing water came to the edge of the floor of the pavilion, but somehow the level peaked at the edge.  It was our lucky day.

Two transmitters were set up to operate on SSB and CW.  The CW station worked from a Carolina windom while the SSB station used a yagi on a 30 feet temporary tower lashed to a box van.   The operation was a joint venture of ARKAN and the Ozark Wireless Society.  This year operation was done under the call K5OWS.   Both transmitters were in operation around the clock and a good time was had by all.

Several members of the clubs provided food and drinks for the hungry operators and support personnel.  Charles W5NX brought a brand new propane powered, table top grill.  We enjoyed fresh grilled hamburgers and hotdogs.  In the wee hours of Sunday morning we also enjoyed eggs, bacon and potatoes cooked up by Joe KD5TLH.  Needless to say no one went hungry during the entire period of operation.

Here are a few pictures I took during Field Day 2007.
